About the Santa Run
The Rotary Club of Saltram was founded in 1984. Since then it has raised many thousands of pounds for numerous local, national and international charities and good causes.
In addition, the members give freely of their time to help and assist local organisations in schemes which need manpower rather than money to achieve their aims and ideals. These include providing help and support in educational, sporting and musical projects for young people.
This is the first Charity Santa Fun Run which our club has organised and we hope that it will become an established feature of the festive activities in our great city. This year the event is being held with the support of the Plymouth City Centre Company, as part of their West End Christmas Carnival and in association with this year’s charities Children’s Hospice South West and Diabetes UK, on Sunday 5th December 2010.
This is an event for all ages and abilities and will be a thoroughly enjoyable day for participants and spectators alike. It is not a race and there are no prizes for first over the finish line, but all finishers will receive a medal on completion of the route. We welcome everyone and we provide you with a free Santa suit to wear. You can imagine the sea of red and white as all our Santas flow through the City Centre of Plymouth!
We ask all entrants to raise a little sponsorship – just £20 would be a fabulous start, and thanks to the Government’s generosity we could claim back a further £5 for your supporters who are also taxpayers
The event takes place at 11.00 am on Sunday 5th December. Join us to make it a real family occasion.
The charities which will benefit this year will be
* Children’s Hospice South West
* Diabetes UK (South West)
