Aberdeen’s Winter Festival Christmas Lights Switch On Parade

Join us in celebrating the annual switch on of the city’s Christmas lights on Union Street on Sunday 25th November 2012. The Lord Provost will lead a parade along the main thoroughfare, switching on each light as it passes underneath. The Parade starts at 5:30pm.

There will be street entertainment from 5.15pm.

Caution: explosions, loud music, flashing lights and vehicles will be incorporated into the parade. Please for your safety stay on the pavements to view the parade.
Traffic Management

There will be a number of road closures in and around the event. Roads will be opened as soon as it is safe, this is expected to be around 6.30pm.

The Theme for last year’s parade was Victorian or Ye Oldie times, along with music from pipe bands, drumming groups, children’s carol singers, local steel band, elves and Santa. panto dames 2010 parade

Aladdin …. The O2

Aladdin … A Wish Come True

Lily Savage will dust down her theatrical muses and throw on the guise of Widow Twankey for a rare and unique stage appearance in a strictly limited season of Aladdin A Wish Come True at The Theatre at The O2.

From Friday 7 December 2012 until Saturday 5 January 2013 a truly unique and magical theatrical event will be taking place on the Greenwich Peninsula under the canopy of The O2. A purpose built 1900-seat theatre will host what Whatsonstage called “a classy panto” starring the inimitable Lily Savage as one of the greatest dames in pantomime, Widow Twankey.

Lily Savage, who will be performing by kind permission of Mr Paul O’Grady, had this to say: “Lily had such a great time playing Widow Twankey last time in Southampton that I am delighted she gets to have another go and that this will be in her very own, brand new purpose built theatre at The O2 – which will be filled with the magic of Old Peking!!“

Christmas Lantern Parade Welcomes Father Christmas and his Reindeer

Father Christmas arrives at Tatton Park during a beautiful lantern parade … enjoy the glow and atmosphere of this wonderful welcome.

- Light his route with your own lanterns as he makes his way through the twilight parkland to Tatton’s festive stable yard.

- Say hello to his two favourite reindeer Prancer and Dancer.

- Bring along your Christmas wish list to pop into our special posting box.

- Please bring along any no longer wanted toys to donate to the Manchester Children’s Hospital.

(The charity works to make a difficult time easier for its parents and their families and treats children from across the North West. Its the largest children’s hospital in the country with over 180,000 patient visits per year. The toys donated will be used on the hospital’s Outpatients, Accidents
and X-Ray departments.)

The hilarious firm family favourite DAVE BENSON PHILLIPS explodes onto the stage as our hilarious Genie whilst if you want a REALLY NASTY ABANAZAR who better to fill the starring role than JOHN ALTMAN known to millions for his starring roles in stage productions as diverse as Bouncers and Chicago, film roles including Return of the Jedi and Quadrophenia and of course his television credits including NASTY NICK COTTON in Eastenders where he returned recently to reek havoc on Dot and the rest of Albert Square!

Alongside John Altman and Dave Benson Phillips topping the bill is one of the stars of the fantastic children’s series ‘Hotel Trubble’– Gary Damer, a sure hit for the children and adults alike in the audience as the hilarious and loveable character Wishee Washee whilst Lucia Matisse returns to the Plaza due to popular demand as The Fairy of the Ring, alongside Danny Posthill as Widow Twanky and finally Catherine Wainwright at Princess Balroubador.
